Janice originally trained as a florist at Leonard's situated in Cliftonville, she then  continued to gain experience by working as a freelance florist for a number of local shops.

In 1999 Janice opened Church Street Florists at 8a Church Street which was at one time a double garage, in 2003 the shop was demolished and a new two storey premises built. The new premises were officially opened by the then Mayor & Mayoress of Broadstairs & St Peters Cllr John & Mrs Fullerton.

With the business continuing to expand Janice relocated to larger premises at 25 Church Street, 8a continues to trade as Able Hands. However if you look closely at 8a you will notice a plaque “Jan`s Cottage”

Janice is widely known throughout the local area and is an active member of the Chamber of Commerce, and regularly demonstrates the art of floristry to local organisations.
